Something that really bugs me about "[x] understands the assignment" is that they think they are ahead of the zeitgeist by appreciating these underappreciated actors when many of the actors have already been paid their dues. Like I remember when Freaks and Geeks was big on Netflix 8 years ago and people were like 'wow Linda Cardellini is such a hidden gem!'
