Although many speculated, it was not Reputation Taylor’s Version; it was, in fact, a more interesting announcement, especially for the future of Taylor Swift Incorporated.
Taylor Swift bought back her masters. Our long national nightmare is finally over. Everything that has happened with her career since 2019 has been in response to the sale of her masters. Folklore, Evermore, The Eras Tour, the re-records, all of it was a reaction to being on the wrong end of a business decision, that was symbolically about her right to “herself” as much as it was about her body of work. All were a collection of acts of defiance, and now it’s over. She is on the other side of it.
She has finally proven herself as an eternal superstar. She completed one of the most successful international tours of all time. A tour in celebration not only of her most recent releases but of her entire career, so far. She dominated news cycles, had a brief fling with her alleged long-time crush. She gained fans, money, and admiration. She also got a boyfriend as famous as she is. She checked everything off her to-do list.
