Whether you’ve realized it or not, the world is now divided into two kinds of days. Bones days and No Bones days. These days are decided by a thirteen year old pug, named Noodle. Noodle’s owner checks every day to see if the pug can support his weight (a bones day) or if the pug sinks back into his bed (no bones day). A bones day is for achievement but also treating yourself. You’ve earned it. A no bones day is for giving up. Lay down, take a rest. Treat yourself. You deserve it.
The first mention of the concept of no bones video is March 11th. August 13th is the first check in as if it is a regular occurrence. Around September, the videos start to pick up with more regularity and by October, it’s a daily occurrence. This is how it works on Tiktok. Something happens more than twice and we start to rely on it as a regular part of the landscape. It breaks things up between the memes. Every day we can count on seeing the same five sounds and one or two of our regular characters. Right now, we have the No Bones Pug as one of our regular characters and he has really taken off. No one is aware of how to ration their attachment to the pug. I like seeing Noodle every so often. During my morning scroll it’s a fun surprise to know if it’s a bones day or a no bones day. I didn’t need to know every day but now it’s inescapable. We must all know whether we want to or not.
