The Devil Wears Prada Three Panel
Fitting that the week of the Met Gala the worst people on Instagram are doing a fashion meme. The meme itself is ugly. Why is it formatted like that? Why in general have their been so many three panel memes with movie stills this summer? Someone I know has to know who at the Sony Marketing department is doing this. Give me their number so I can fix this. The fashion the people in the meme are criticizing in undoubtedly awful but all fashion does right now. Some of us have just accepted our athleisure fate.

Nicki Minaj
What more can I say that has not already been said? It is a perfect tweet. It’s a stunning move to be the most talked about celebrity on the night of the Met Gala when she wasn’t even there. Every word in the tweet is better than the last. The memes themselves go hand in hand. We rose to the occasion. You can’t say that and not be made fun of, but you have to respect that level of posting. She did not have to say any of that but she did and we responded in kind. I loved it. I love when celebrities sink to our level and then she was funny about it. It was in no way a good PR move or a smart decision but it was very funny.
Jason Derulo
Funny every time. The day I stop laughing at this classic is the day you can take me out back and shoot me. If Jason Derulo falling on the steps isn’t funny to you, get right with God. Fix your heart. Learn to find joy in one of the silliest people in culture falling in the most ridiculous way at the most serious event a Celebrity can attend. Every part of it is good.
[X] has Arrived at the Met Gala
Hit or Miss. Gasping for air along with the other memes. Not the main thing and so often they were bad and made by people for whom this event was not their speed. Sometimes we don’t get to be included in everything. Sometimes you have to sit one out and you don’t get to make memes. The rule for the Met Gala is if you want to make memes you have to pay attention. You have to meet the event where it is. I’m not interested in men trying to get likes on a night where the main thing going on doesn’t interest them. I don’t go on the NBA subreddit and make memes about how basketballs look like pumpkins or some shit. Pay attention and give it your all. This is NOT the night to half ass it.
Why Didn’t They Wear This
We did this one when the theme was announced and now we’re doing it again. Some are fun and some are not. Some are insightful jokes about the state of American fashion and some are people who don’t care trying to get attention on a night where they can’t otherwise participate. I’m bored by the Guy Fieri takes from self proclaimed “weird” girls who don’t care about fashion.

Sending SO MUCH Love and Support
God, finally an aspect to the John Mulaney situation that is light hearted and fun. The people participating in this meme are funny, well adjusted adults so I thought it was cute and fun. The real take away from this whole situation is Never. Stop. Manifesting. Don’t Hate the Player (Olivia Munn) Hate the Game (Manifestation). I don’t know if contextless this is a good meme but I think it's the appropriate level of discourse for the whole situation which up until this point has been absolutely insane. Also a great counterpart to “I do not need your love or support at this time Sarah Jessica Parker”.
Ok Unfollowing Now
Certain memes are like riddles and people enjoy being able to write a riddle. They enjoy guessing games and they enjoy outsmarting their friends. This meme is more fun than the last text one. Everyone gets a little thrill when there’s a particularly hard one and they can figure out who it’s about. I think that gives this meme a little oomph. It’s also a format that’s been around for a while and with this zenith, we have perhaps killed it. That's a real shame considering we have so few repeatable text memes that are this complex. People will always be haters for this kind of meme because the barrier for entry is so low but that doesn’t make the meme itself invaluable or particularly awful. Twitter is a website for contrarian malcontents but that doesn’t mean that everything that is popular is bad or stupid or for the smooth brained. I liked this one and I think everyone having fun with it is good.

Get a grip. Please please please get a grip. Stop crying. Take a deep breath and say some affirmations. Start with this one: I am an adult. If this really spoke to you, you need to take a step back and evaluate your life. You need to make some kind of change because whatever you’re doing now isn’t working. He didn’t really even say anything that inspiring. I kept waiting for it but it never came. The memes after the fact seemed to be covering up the fact that it made everyone cry. I’m not crying, I'm actually laughing. Like it’s actually funny to me. But it’s not fooling me. Get a grip.
Tiktok
Words cannot express how much this makes me laugh. Every now and then it’s good to check in on how teenage boys are spending their time and this one is killing me. It came on my For You page in the form of a kid recording the high school administrators announcement. This video had everything. It was an immersive cinema experience. The video itself was plain but the comments were like being back in high school, complete with the cries of “this isn’t funny, you have to respect administrators” which always make me roll my eyes into the back of my head. It is funny and you don’t have to respect high school administrators. Basically Licks are loot you steal from your high school. The more expensive and bulky the item, the bigger and better the Lick. Sinks, Projectors, You name it. The boys post the videos on Tiktok for clout and to remove myself of liability I’m not going to endorse this as an activity. But it is funny. My favorite part is the most common lick seems to be soap dispensers. People keep saying that it’s unhygienic, which to be fair, it is in theory. However, have you ever been in a public school boys bathroom? The soap might as well not be there in the first place, so stealing it is just funny. Again in case there are any high schoolers reading this, I don’t condone theft or property damage but Jesus Christ does it make me laugh.
Lie better. Make up more interesting and funny lies. Just like the theories sound I need more from you people. I’m tired of the fake interestings trying to impress me.
Boring. So so so boring to me. It’s like kind of funny. But not that funny. It’s made more not funny by people insisting that it’s really funny. When people with corporate jobs who insist they are on alt Tiktok really latch onto a sound that’s how you know it’s not good. When this sound starts playing I know that I will not be cracking up.
We already did this one last summer. Why are we doing it again? It not even that good of a meme in the first place. Unfortunately some of them make me cry. The inspiring ones get me in a way that I’m ashamed to admit and the ones about Ina Garten upset me. No one is Ina and No one is Jeffrey. Stop trying. Try to be Martha Stewart instead. It’s much more achievable to be a Type A bitch with a criminal background than to become Ina. Ina’s talent is having a wide breadth of knowledge outside of cooking, marrying well, and having a lust for life. Everyone at 23 who wants to be Ina is so far from it that it’s embarrassing to watch them try and emulate her.
I wondered why this sound always struck me as not funny and annoying and today I remembered it was started by one of the McElroys. One of them brought it to Tiktok and their hellish annoying fanbase ran with it. They keep insisting that it’s so funny and crazy. The guy in the original ad is now a professor at Bard, so that also informs the acolytes this sound brings. It’s that theater kid energy of being fake shocked at how crazy and weird you're being. You’re not being that crazy and you’re being weird in ways you don’t yet understand and may never wise up to. It’s the worse version of smack my ass like a drum. Which is actually funny. I pray we will be released from this nightmare soon but I know that is not true.
