Well it finally happened. The day we all knew was coming came. The Queen died and Twitter exploded. It was a great day on the internet. It sucked all the air out of the room, as it should have, out of respect for how many people hated her. It was beautiful to witness. We played the hits. The dancing crab videos, Irish Joe Biden, the Ghanan paul bearers. It was truly a sight to behold. We all had so much fun

If it were 2010, someone would devote a whole Twitter account to this. They would get a book deal. We would refer to the Zen of Trump or Trump Zen or something but it is now and we only have this. A few fleeting memes, written the way Trump would talk if he were a spiritual teacher. There’s a lesson there about savoring moments as they come for what they are. We only have things for the moment they are in.

This is a cool trend that is plagued by an unfortunate series of events. Event one is a somewhat complicated hand motion. That is a hard concept for some people to grasp. Event two is that you have to make an interesting point. The collision of these two events have caused about 4 of these videos to be good. People who can do the hand motion are doing fandom discourse, people making interesting points are interested in the choreography. It’s a visual medium, you have to learn the choreography, otherwise write it down and put it somewhere else.

What are we mad at here? The concept of people knowing you because of your family? Why are we being weirdly passive aggressive about people correctly guessing that we’re related to our relatives? If we’re not mad what is the reaction supposed to be here? Why are we talking about this? I know we all want memes about almost every aspect of the human experience but I’m sorry some are too dull.

I love to play pretend as much as the next girl but I don’t understand this specific version of it. The minds of people who are purely aesthetics fascinate me. What would I wear if I was a teacher? The clothes I have now? Why teacher? Because there’s room for it to be fun but you still have some kind of dress code? But the original girl didn’t even follow that dress code so what’s up? The teachers' duetting it are fun but how did we even get here. Why can’t we think bigger?!
