Francesco Nozzolino
If you’ve been on the internet recently, you may have seen an incredible gif of a gay guy facilitating a conversation between two people. It's a familiar scene to many of us and the Palm Springs t-shirt worn by the mysterious bon vivant led all of us to believe it was happening in some American mall or tourist attraction. Instead, someone did the research and found the original video. Our subject was not an American conversationalist but an Italian content creator by the name of Francesco Nozzolino. I am delighted to learn of this Italian cultural export. The most interesting part of the internet is cultural exchange and I’m so glad we got to learn more about the rich and beautiful people of Italy. And hear Nozzolino’s little laugh.
Joe Biden
In the world of memes, it's important to do what is easy. Especially when it comes to the president. We should never forget the Bart Simpson-like relationship memes have to power. Biden is our Principal Skinner and we should never miss an opportunity to take a cheap shot.
The Inside Out Characters If It Was Filmed Inside My Head
This is some of our worst work. It requires everyone to fundamentally misunderstand the premise of Inside Out for little to no reward. The people saying they want “Horny” to be in the next one are more creative and original. Why would the emotions in your head be characters from a TV show? I get that we all want to post promotional photos from 20 years ago but Pixar doesn't need more free press. I’m not falling for this psyop.
TikTok
Look With Your Special Eyes

I remember this commercial. I always thought it was kind of funny and the larger culture seemed to disagree with me. No one seemed to reference it or care. It did not have the popularity of the Old Spice ads or Flo or the Geico gecko. But I loved it. So did everyone my age. We remembered it and now that we have the power to make things culturally relevant we’re forcing everyone to engage with this. None of the executions are that good but they all elicit a small smile out of me when I remember one of my favorite commercials.
In the years since I watched the commercial, I have decided to get contacts because I hate wearing glasses. The reason this is late today is that I spent the day yesterday taking out and putting in contacts. Contacts that I have to special order because my eyes are so particular. I now have to look with my special eyes. A commercial that I once thought was so funny is now my reality.
Justice For Tulsa
The theater kids are trying to use their post-Tony’s steam to drum up support for a new TikTok sound. They want this to go viral so badly. It just doesn’t have that spark. It lacks an oomph that Broadway needs to translate in the digital age. It's one of those songs that theater kids try to sell the general public on but will never cross the threshold. It’s too slow and story-driven. It doesn’t have the x-factor that makes the general public fall in love and it’s certainly no Sondheim. They are also trying really hard to sell us on a song where they say “horsin’ round” and keep glossing over that part. They are blind to their own silliness.
Thought Daughter

It's in the past tense because they had only had one thought and decided that was enough to base an identity around. I understand the desire to give the celibate intellectual girl some good branding, especially in comparison to the famous “Thot daughter” of the infamous “gay son or thought daughter?” question but I’d be more interested in this branding if it wasn’t essentially a pity party. We’re too old to be thinking poor me, I’m the plain girl who reads books. The thought daughter could be an interesting archetype but she needs another draft. Do some more thinking and get back to me.
Boots and A Slick Back Bun
The party sound of the summer is here! Of course, we have our party music (bumpin that) but now we have an activity to do with our friends when we’re out and about. My favorite part of this sound is judging how fun I think the groups of girls doing it are. My favorites are the ones doing it as intended on their little outings, be it in line for the club or on the beach. They’re on the town! They’re doing little dances! It’s a fun summer activity. My least favorite ones are the new takes where of course, trauma is introduced. It doesn’t have to be that. It never has to be that! We can just talk about the shoes and the hair. It doesn’t always have to be eating disorders and situationships.
I'm very glad for the MY BRAND commercial to be back in the collective consciousness. In my heart of hearts, however, I'm praying for Lionell Coin Bank to be resurrected.
lol i was wondering what the high school theater kids thought of the outsiders...truly it's no merrily
