She is the gift that keeps on giving. The first one we thought was fake. There’s no way our new mainstream pop star’s favorite rap album is Broke with Expensive Taste. But it is. She’s everything we want and more. We let our imagination run away with us and thought of all the other things she could say that would appeal to us. This is exciting to live through. We get new pop stars all the time but rarely does it feel like this. She is a phenom and we get to watch her rise. Right now it’s safe to say we only want what’s best for her and we think she’ll get it. Right now, we think this time will be different. She’s so good and so smart and so observant. We’ll never get tired of her and she’ll never make a mistake. We have to hold on to this feeling because once it’s gone we can’t get it back, we just move on to the next girl.
It's always cool to see young punks doing well. Their song was fun and they seem to be talented musicians! After their clip went viral, they were quickly signed to Epitaph records. Turns out two of their fathers work in the industry. So the world is not as pure as we thought but that’s fine. There are worse problems. We could spend hours doing the Malcolm Gladwell math as to why these girls are and will be successful but they’ve already been signed. What are we going to actually do? Be mad? It's a little interesting to compare these girls to the Tramp Stamps who we ruthlessly took down this year for being inauthentic industry plants. We could spend hours talking about the differences but like most things in life, it’s cooler when you're not thirty.
Getting Cast in Knives Out 2
Does no one remember that the whole reason we liked and were brought to Knives Out was the STACKED cast. That is the point of a Knives Out Movie. Big House, Big Cast, Bad Accent. Those are our favorite parts. Everyone gets all in a tizzy when we have to watch the casting announcements come out but that’s why we like the movie. That’s part of the appeal.

At this point Twitter Pride Discourse is basically a meme. It happens every year (even when there is no pride) it never changes, and no one’s mind is changed. So let’s do a rundown of the basics currently in heavy circulation.
Kink at Pride (No time to explain, just search kink at Pride on twitter)
So rarely do you see people wholeheartedly engage in behavior that they loudly proclaim is stupid before, during, and after engaging in it. We talk about how stupid kink at pride discourse is all year long and suddenly it’s late may and we find ourselves hand wringing with the worst nerds on the internet on an issue we only care about because we’ve been fighting about it for so long. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so annoying.
Corporations During Pride....
I’ve been seeing posts about this since March. Everyone wants to be the first to get their joke in. But the joke is never that funny. It does not reveal so hidden truth or give a new take. It is effectively the same as just saying “no cooperations at pride” which you can just sa. There does not need to be an image. People are making these memes to prove how smart they are which is never that good of a punchline. Nothing they post has the simple elegance of the later homo textbook picture. That one felt like a funny observation with a funny out of context image. Unless you’re bringing something new to the table there’s no need for another observation about Corporations and Gay pride. Shut up or do something.

New Text to Speech Voice Just Dropped
Sounds both more natural and unnatural. We all hate it. If people complain about it enough they might change it back. It’s worked before.
I can’t get over how fun this is. It was made in partnership with the ACTUAL Versailles museum. Everyone decided that the best songs to pair it with were Vroom Vroom, Love Game, or Go Hard which are all incredible choices. Charli XCX participated. Normally I think filters are only funny once or just funny enough to send to your friends but this one has something special. Our best work in a while.
Even When The Sky Comes Falling
Why is this a recurring meme on tiktok? Why do we love shitty but emotional covers of every song? Why do we listen to sad songs on tiktok and think the emotion needs to be more raw, we need to hear the crying in the shower version? This particular version is a new take on a classic. The deep well of sadness you feel as a child when your parents are late picking you up is our jumping off point. From there we reflect on all the mundane moments that to an adult would be a mild inconvenience but are borderline traumatic to a child. If Castaways was a happy childhood meme, either lived or unlived, this is the other side of that coin. All the sadness we felt then, too big to even understand, re-lived with the help of perspective, but still a desire to return. Maybe in the hopes of making things right.

What is Anthony Fantano doing? Has this humorless nerd not done enough in his time on the internet? Why are you coming to tiktok to make memes? Is it not enough to post your reviews? Stick to boosting the career of the Dev Lemons girl. She has potential and I’d rather see more videos from her than theneedledrop guy doing stitches and making his little jokes. The meme itself is fine but stick to what you’re good at.
