I Wish I Had Been Your Mother
Well! We have our first repeatable meme from the war that people won’t remember is from the war! We will probably be saying “I wish I had been your mother” about tv characters and celebrities for years to come. It will join the pantheon of phrases that people repeat so often we forget what we’re actually referencing. It might get adjusted in the coming days or months or even years. Similar to saying someone will always be famous. Of course, a poem by an actress is always an easy target. It’s the imagine video of this global crisis. I don’t see a way that memes will be funnier than the original video, but I’m willing to watch everyone try.
Skeleton Brunch
Skeleton Brunch is a fake meme from TikTok that is a real meme on twitter. It’s easier than ever to lie and trick the people who are perpetually out of the loop. Skeleton Brunch is an easy home run. Skeletons always play, every kooky science teacher knows that. Put a pair of sunglasses on those bad boys and you become the favorite teacher to at least one student in every period. Second, people love brunch. Especially on the internet. People love to talk about the ethics of brunch and use it as a cultural signifier for various groups. Skeleton Brunch is a perfect combo. We also all love an inside joke. It’s like being back at summer camp. Once you figure out the rules of the Green Glass Door, it's fun to trick other people. Skeleton Brunch is the most recent iteration of this. Once you know its fake you can worry your friends and family by talking about it, share a wink with your other friends in on the joke, and try to indoctrinate other people into joining you at skeleton brunch.
Skeleton brunch is fun and a rare meme where the creator seems to still be having fun. Most meme authors are obsessed with trying to lay claim to some version of authorship, which is a fool's errand. Memes are more fun when we’re being ridiculous and removed from reality. Of course credit where credit is due but it’s more fun when we all participate and riff off of being ridiculous together. It’s also fun because she seems to like it more than anybody else. That’s really the most important thing in all of this. Making yourself laugh. As long as you hold onto that it doesn’t matter what other people do with Skeleton Brunch.
TikTok
After thinking long and hard I have decided that this meme is fine and I don’t really care about it. I have yet to see a real showstopper. Wow me and then we’ll talk.
This trend is people saying a statement they believe to be true and the unforeseen results. The unforeseen results displayed as a picture when the song cuts to the “Eh Sexy Lady”. It’s just another form of trauma dumping but they’ve finally introduced an element that everybody needed: Timing. Now these things are starting to resemble actual jokes. Now that we’ve got timing down, we can work on setups and punchlines. The other thing people need to work on is formatting. The picture people cut to, needs to be clear. I need to know what I’m looking at. It doesn’t work as a joke if I need to be really careful with the pause button to figure out what exactly the picture is of. Best version of a trauma dump trend so far, mostly because it is a revival of gangnam style.
Great meme for now. Someone said, wait until it gets to the overtly sexual straight couples and I shivered. It will be bad then but for now I am enjoying all the dogs and cats under the sound. I implore you if you don’t usually click the links for the examples, to click this one. That’s a great cat right there.
Everyone is trying to correct everyone else's behavior but they’re doing it from a place of smugness rather than understanding. I predict this trend will have a net negative effect on how we all behave. People are going to react to the smugness and not the facts the author is sharing. Too bad.
This sound is fun, if not the trend itself. I think people are not understanding how different a pomegranate and a grapefruit actually are. They are wildly different. Have you ever seen a slice of pomegranate successfully hold it’s shape in a drink? It’s not like he thought an orange was a grapefruit. He thought it was a completely different fruit in an entirely different genus. The initial thought has to be very different from what ends up being the truth. Also, if you are a queer person who is thinking of making a fun pun with “fruits” save it. It’s been done. Just comment “same” on the video that applies to you.
The "I Don’t Know My Fruits" one reminds me of my London years and how fake most English people are. Most of the time they use terns like" hun" "love" "darling" etc.. as a passive aggressive way to insult someone LOL.
