Huge Week for Memeforum last week. We celebrated our second anniversary on January 21st, which I made a post about on Instagram. Substack also released a feature that lets me see where everyone is from. I love looking at this map and I am so happy to be able share my writing with people all across the world. I am so thankful for my subscribers.
That being said, I have goals to accomplish. So if you know anyone from any of the states (or countries!) in grey who would like Memeforum, please share it with them!

Kim Kardashian has Purchased…
Another week, another fake Kardashian controversy involving fashion archives. I can’t even enjoy the meme because the argument seems so stupid. I can’t even feign an opinion on this one. Chalk it up to who cares!
One Dose of Pfizer
Something about this week feels like we’ve done it all before. We’re doing one dose of Pfizer videos again? We’re really deigning to respond to these anti-vaxxers? I have no desire to engage with these people on any level, and that includes making fun of them. People who I have known to make good contributions to the timeline are wasting my time with these videos. Knock it off, get back to work. We have Oscar nominations to fight about.

I, too, can put a video of worms for brains dating advice next to Amelia Hamlin’s buccal fat removal. These videos only are worth watching if there’s an overarching theme. Otherwise, they are just TikToks cut together. Like, I get it, TikTok is melting our brains, and it can be overwhelming when played all at once, but that’s not really an interesting statement. Even if it were, it’s been made before. The art piece and the statement have been made, do something else. Try again.
This is not to say anything bad about the other TikTok intellectual pursuit, the existentialist slide shows. I love them. Those are a fun dose of thinking and feeling in an otherwise mindless scroll. I enjoy the brief reprieve of poetry among the other garbage, in a way that I don’t enjoy the look-how-smart-I-am attitude of #corecore.
I Try Not To Kill Myself

Well, It’s January. Late January specifically. The most normal time of the year (derogatory). There is nothing to look forward to, except the coming months hopefully being better. We know this because all of the TikTok sounds that are popular right now are either about unbridled depression or nostalgia. This one is the former. This sound isn’t really about anything specific, just expressing the sentiment that sometimes, when bad things happen, we must try not to kill ourselves. A sentiment we must carry with us until the first warm day of the year.
I Miss The Rage

This sound is the other way people cope with January. They romanticize a time that was objectively worse but at least it was different. At least, when things were harder, we were driven by simple things. Instant gratification was better and could be achieved easily with things like sugar, nicotine, and alcohol. Now, in January, we are in the process of making better decisions, which is boring and will not pay off the way a Margarita and McDonald’s will. However we know better so all we can do is miss it.
Mascara
I absolutely hate any sound where women reveal all the ways they have been treated horribly by men. I also hate any trend that is a basic metaphor reused by everyone. This trend commits both unforgivable crimes. Sorry that your boyfriend cheated on you but if you’re going to write bad poetry about it, try to be original.

The way Tucker Carlson says, “But is a lesbian now maybe.” is so funny. He sounds like a 12-year-old boy trying to talk seriously about drama for the first time. The whole clip feels like it should end with “what the fricking heck?”. I have come to appreciate this sound like a fine wine. It has grown on me with age. I will watch it every time it comes on my timeline.
