Dollarita Steve
Last year, A man ate a rotisserie chicken in Philadelphia. People said that this was a unique Philly endeavor. It spoke to the true spirit of the city in a way that no other city could achieve. Others noticed something different. This was not unique to Philly but spoke to something changing in our culture. It was all Reddit now. Young men in their 20s and 30s on the internet share the same sense of humor. It’s all been tempered and influenced by the internet, to a degree where everything is the same. We’re all speaking the same language and doing the same thing but with a slightly different spin. Enter Dollarita Steve. He’s playing the oldest tricks in the book. Semi-ironic patronage of chain restaurants? Been there. Applebees of all places, has been a punch line for as long as I can remember people going places ironically. Of course, what sets these men apart is their ability to go for it. To take this “wouldn’t it be funny if” into the real world, but it’s not just funny for themselves. It’s funny for the Internet, which is always Ironic and detached. Dollarita Steve is not the same as the man who cashes in on the Dollarita because it’s a good bargain. He wants his picture taken and he wants to be beloved by women and gay men on Twitter. This is more than just a feeling, by the way. He tweeted the other day about his rejected bachelor casting tape, which to me, gives up the whole game. You want to be famous and you’ll drink as many dollaritas as it takes to get there.
Save Me
This one has been around for a while, a couple of months at least. The premise is simple… What is something that can save you? It’s easy, and the joke is always easy. I’ve never been wowed by any of these but it’s a comfort. It’s something. Something to hang on to at the very least. I don’t love it but I have no strong feelings of hatred toward it either. It’s like a classmate you've known since Kindergarten but never really clicked with. There’s a fondness if not outright affection.

Taylor Edits
For me, this is the only way to understand if a Taylor Swift song is good or not. Forgive me, but unless I know from the first listen, I have a hard time remembering which Taylor Swift songs are good. Cruel Summer, Betty, Message in a Bottle (Taylor’s Version)? Those I knew from minute one whether or not I liked them. Other songs I have a harder time committing to memory, but I never forget an edit. If a song makes for a good edit, then I know it’s good. If it’s used for a meme, that can go either way but if it’s the soundtrack for an edit of Jo and Laurie from Little Women (2019), then I know it’s good. My brain is broken in ways beyond repair; these are the only things I like watching anymore.
