This kind of tweet is the definition of a slow news day on Twitter. Everyone is quote tweeting a tweet from 2018. I have no dog in this fight but there’s no need to kick a man when he’s down. No one’s heard from Hobo Johnson since this clip and we all agree it’s bad. The post New Years slump was hitting some of us harder than others. It’s over now because anyone with free time has been drafted into an 11 sided culture war over HBO Max’s Velma. Before that things were bleak, as far as new content. Things are still bleak, but at least we’re not quote tweeting a Tiny Desk video from 2018.
A Young Soldier’s Face After 4 Years of War
I don’t really have an opinion on this meme, I’m just making a note of it. I think it won’t hit big for a while or maybe ever, but it will exist in the background. The phrase will kick around for a while and be used if celebrities look haggard in public. The original picture will be used as a reaction image as well. This meme has a long life span ahead of it but we won’t be aware of it for a while. Or you won’t. I’ll keep a tally of every appearance as a point for me and my powers of observation.
To Leslie
I love this. I love this weird silly world we live in. For those that don’t know, the film “To Leslie” is trying to score some Oscar nominations. While there is not a large For Your Consideration budget, there are more than a handful of celebrity favors being called in. Prestige celebrities like Bradley Whitford, Gwyneth Paltrow, and the always tech savvy Mia Farrow all posted similar messages of support to their fellow Academy voters to nominate the film, as well as the lead actress, Andrea Riseborough. This is a great meme for an Oscar season sorely lacking in them. There might be memes about the films but the lead up to the Oscar race has been dry. To Leslie's Oscar campaign finally delivers on something to laugh about.
Austin Butler’s Elvis Voice
I think Austin Butler was cursed by a witch. I’m not kidding. There’s no other explanation for why he still talks like Elvis. Something about taking on the image of a dead man of such iconic status. He needs to complete some kind of quest in order to fix it. Otherwise he’ll be stuck like that. Or he needs to keep learning to talk like even crazier people until he gets back to his real voice.
TikTok
The Monsters Gone (It’s a slideshow)
A sweet trend about times fathers were there for their children. It’s nice and does not have to try too hard to be a bit of a tear jerker. The moments where the fathers and stepfathers are most celebrated in this trend are small ones. This trend is not about grand gestures but small moments. However some of you are not house trained and don’t know how to be normal. If you want to make a point about how your own father was not a good person, make your own post. Do not flood the comments of another post. Use one of the other sounds on tiktok. There’s so many different ones people can use to talk about their various parental traumas. TikTok is a great app because the memes are sorted for you, if someone wants to talk about something specific there is a sound for that. If you want to talk about something else, use a different sound. Go where the conversation is being had.
So Something Not That Chill Happened Last Night

This sound is a load bearing wall on TikTok. It helps to support the foundation. It will get re-popular every couple of months when nothing else is going on. It is nondescript and can be reused as we see fit. It is more often than not that something not that chill happened last night and we will find a way to talk about it.
Finn Wolfhard Snap
We’re all using Capcut templates ironically now! That’s a fun development that will hopefully not render the site unusable. It won’t, probably. I trust the people of tiktok to understand irony and restraint. I think we’ll do about 20 more of these and then by March we’ll have to stop. It’ll be fine.
I literally can't stop watching the mike/france video like it's bringing such joy to my life I can't stop
