Goncharov
Goncharov is a lot of things. It’s a fake movie first and foremost. It’s a meme on a website that many are speculating a move to, but more than anything, it’s a show of strength. It’s to show that we still can. Call it cringe, but it’s tumblr so of course it’s cringe. It’s pedantic and annoying but don’t go to the pedantic and annoying website and expect otherwise. It’s impressive in its cohesion, Its fun to watch something like that grow. It’s a little bit more high brow and adult than anything tumblr has done recently, which I’m always an advocate for. The issue is with outsiders bringing it to other websites and adding the canon. Trying to get twitter clout from a tumblr meme is a desperate move that I can’t stand behind. Either endure the humiliation of posting on tumblr or suffer the fate of being cloutless on twitter. If you want an easy 10k likes just steal someone else's tweet.
What’s most special about this movie is that it seems to speed run the experience many of us have with tumbr’s favroite movies. They exist almost entirely in gif form with accompanying essays and comparisons. Every gifset and inside joke and cinematic parallels post helps us understand the movie, even more so if we haven’t seen it yet. I have walked away from several movies in my adult life that I absorbed almost entirely through tumblr first. Gornachav is proof that we’ve all been doing this together and we can do it ourselves with enough clues. No Movie required.
Beautiful Princess Island
This meme combines many things in our vernacular. I went to x and no one knew you, to imply you’re lying about something and the classic george costanza “the jerk store called, they’re running out of you.” The first influence is obvious and i believe the second one to be more subconscious. George Costanza lives in any one disgruntled by the state of the world, so most twitter users. I went to Beautiful Princess Island and everyone knew you lets us figure out multiple moving parts for ourselves. Where did the speaker go? How did they remember you? Is it positive or negative? Not every version is good but we are adding to our expanding map of twitter locations. Beautiful princess island is located just south of the dicksucking factory and east of the content mines. Each day with this ongoing meme we get more places to go and our world becomes bigger.
Taylor Swift Ticketmaster Line
This meme was used sparingly enough that I believe it can keep living for a while. It’s a simple funny premise. Over 2000 people in line ahead of you to see anyone other than a pop star in concert is funny. It will kill on stan twitter and with the oscars coming up. It’s great for sending in groupchats when you’re going to a museum or the theater or the punk show at your boyfriends house. It was fun while it lasted and I think it’s a good gag to have in your backpocket. I will be sending it in the groupchat I make to see the Joan Didion exhibit at the hammer. It will absolutely kill. I suggest you do the same.
Pretty Good Litmus Test
It’s fine. It’s ok. I’ve yet to be really wowed. I wish there was kind of agreed upon point being made rather than like familiar images. Some of them are somewhat divisive but nothing really fun or interesting is being said here. I don’t think it has the staying power of any of the other pre thanksgiving memes last year. It’s no “We used to be a country” which I was bored of at the time but now say whenever I have even a little bit of a memory about something I can’t do anymore. Everyone is about to be so bored and I want better for us.
Little White Dog
I hate him.

This man is divisive. He makes daily vlogs about his on the go life in New York City. He details dope ass saturdays in his 40s with his wife and child. He is beloved by some but hated by others. He is not for me, personally. That being said, I watch every one of his videos. I marvel at his drive and consistency. I’m amazed at his energy. I feel tired after watching his videos and I have no desire to emulate him. Others see him and are inspired, which I think is the point. I’ve never been inspired by anything that comes close to this content but I’m happy for everyone involved that they like this sort of thing. It seems devoid of all the things I enjoy but to each their own.
I know it’s nerdy and cringe but I do enjoy this sort of thing. I enjoy when the internet is treated the way it was presented to us originally. We are all travelers on the world wide web. I like it even more when, as travelers, we are presented the opportunity to rest. I think it’s cute and funny and reminds to stop being mad about the stupid thing I read. It lets me indulge in my nerdiness without having to do a lot of work or commit. It’s a quick dip and then back to the cool part of the internet (there is no cool part of the internet). I think some people are taking things a little too seriously and keeping too much track of their dubloons. To me the game is more reaction based rather than tally based. It’s like playing make believe with a child. The child doesn’t really care what your response is, you just have to go with it.
Whatever You Lacked In Childhood Is What You Look For In A Relationship

Pop psychology? People who grew up eating organic food? Horrible relationship advice? This meme has it all. All of those add up to being an annoying meme that I simply want off my FYP. I’ve only seen bad ones and I can’t imagine there are good ones.
Permanently Altered My Brain Chemistry (Also A Slideshow)
I’ll allow it. The politics ones are making me laugh. They’re making me remember iconic moments from the past 25 years that I had forgotten about. Bushisms that had been lost to time I can now recall fondly. It’s a meme that can lead to good things but is not in and of itself good. I need to see more.
It Would Be So Awesome

A meme for when it would be so awesome. It would be so cool. It's in our nature to want. Human desire is endless and unsatisfiable. This meme reminds us of what it means to be an animal. That we are driven first and foremost by our desires. Nothing more, nothing less.
