The memes this week were just ok. Mostly because everyone was outside, enjoying the world, which I can’t fault them for! They were focused on making complicated costumes so they could stump their friends or trying to find the perfect accessory to make their slutty costumes slightly clever. There were tasks to be done and parties to attend. Then the internet had to be flooded with those costumes. There was no time for memes.
Kanye West Has Been Banned
Well. He’s done it again. He’s in the news; therefore, everyone has to talk about him, including me, because he inspired a meme. The meme is good. I love when we talk about all the places a person can be banned from. Yu Gi Oh, the reminders app, the Sims 3 store. To me, this falls under the category of “funny every time”. It may not be a 100% killer joke in every tweet, but it always makes me laugh when someone is banned from the curio shop in Webkinz. Keep ‘em coming.
Pearl Halloween costume
The fun thing about this one is that it will not endure. I could be wrong but no one will be dressing up as Pearl, from the A24 horror movie Pearl, next year. This one is more of a real-life meme. If you were a 20-something about town (or younger) chances are you saw some pearl costumes this year. She was everywhere as Mia Goth is having her “It Girl with Talent” moment right now (we’ll see if it lasts) and Pearl is the symbol of that moment. To celebrate, everyone who’s ever felt hot for more than an hour got to be Pearl for Halloween.
TikTok
People have been experimenting with the TikTok voice changer but our meme use isn’t solid, yet. We’re making her reclaim slurs first. Once we all get that out of our system, I’m sure a meme will develop. We just need a minute.
My For You page is currently only Taylor Swift content. I wish that wasn’t the case but it is. Most of the trends are lyric analysis but some are truly revolutionary. These are the two worth talking about IMHO.
Bejeweled Dance

King is too low of a title for this man. He has captured the joy and the essence of TikTok in his videos. He choreographed a dance that he posts daily to his TikTok account. It is original, it is easy to replicate. It is fun. He has the confidence to post and the creativity that inspires others. We recognize in him a freedom of spirit we lack. He is a symbol of all we are and all we want to be. His achievement is his audience not being awestruck at his skill, like a Charli D’amelio figure, but being energized by his fearlessness. He gave us something we can all replicate if we’re too scared to be creative on our own.

I have a couple feelings about this trend. I agree with the people who think if you have to do that much work to get into a relationship, it’s no secret why he doesn’t love you. I agree that some people are admitting to cyberstalking. I agree that others are revealing that they have no sense of self and that it’s sad how women debase themselves for the love of just alright men. All that being said, some of these girls did what they had to do. Sometimes it takes a little engineering. Sure there’s the spark of a moment. There’s also memorizing someone’s class schedule so you know exactly when to bump into them. Both are valid. Sometimes fate needs a little bit of help, sometimes it needs a lot. Sometimes we cross a line. The internet is not a place for nuance but I think it would be worth a shot to try and find some with this trend.
Me Fighting Off

Fun Halloween meme! Very often most Halloween memes are just “look how I transformed into my costume!” This isn’t not that but there’s also a joke to be made. Or at least an opportunity for a joke to be made. Sometimes the joke is more creative than others. Sometimes it’s just regular. Either way, a joke has been made. That’s fun and clever! We see some costumes and who’s funny.
