Beer Twitter
There is a movement starting. The outcomes of which we will not see for many months or even years. It is the natural next iteration of the Dudes Rock movement: Beer Twitter. Beer Twitter is more inclusive and there’s only one rule: tweet about beer. Of course, there’s a vibe that they’re all trying to emulate but that’s hard to put into words. It cultivates the vibe of sitting on the porch, just putting away miller lite, and shooting the shit with your buddies. It can happen anywhere or anytime and it’s about the simple pleasure of drinking beer. Beer Twitter is less a meme than a way of life. If you look around Beer Twitter is everywhere. You just have to know how to look for it
How Men Who [x] Like To Be Kissed
When men police other men about what is and is not feminine, they really mean it and are only kind of joking. They also have no standards for their grading system. They fall victim to petty disagreements, like liking different anime. When they should be calling each other gay and effeminate for real reasons, like ordering dessert.
Spirit Halloween
Happy Halloween! It wouldn’t be Halloween without a reference to our incredible Halloween overlords, Spirit Halloween. This year we honor them with a new meme. The meme has no real rules because no one cares enough to follow them. It’s not one of those copyright infringement costumes where people use descriptive words instead of saying a brand name, but it could be if you wanted it to. Just make whatever joke you want to make. That’s ok. We’re allowed to do whatever we want this year because we officially eradicated spoopy. A half-assed spirit Halloween joke in the last week of October is totally permissible.

I’m Mean Because I Grew Up In New England

I love this trend, for the most part. I’m also mean because I grew up in New England. Noah Kahan is a fellow Vermonter and I suspect we have a similar coldness that comes from a lifetime of harsh winters spent in the Green Mountain state. I love New Englanders reveling in our meanness. The meanness that shapes us and makes it hard to live in other parts of the country. I love that part of this trend. Everything else I can take or leave.
The Rats Are Going To Hate This Announcement
There is a city employee in New York who made herself known to us. She brought some flair and some pizzazz to the world. She made it an incredible place to live for a moment. The department of sanitation can’t be all garbage and pest control. They’ve got to have not only a sense of humor but a sense of showmanship. We owe her all we can give with this one. We owe her a meme, and we’re delivering. The Rats are going to hate this announcement but the rats don’t own this city, Jessica Tisch, the department of sanitation commissioner does.
Y’all Better Come Get One Of These
This is pure unadulterated TikTok. A small business in Ohio puts out a video of a woman, Nisha, recommending a chicken salad (a salad with chicken on it) to their followers. She has an air of authority about her and is immediately recognized as an icon. It goes viral. She gains followers, Lizzo uses the sound, the sound becomes a meme and everyone makes a point to emphasize how good she sells the salad. So far, nothing is going wrong. So far. This could end a number of ways. Maybe Nisha gets to be in a Superbowl commercial. Maybe she just fades away, a little better off. We know the other outcomes but it’s best not to talk about those. Things like this don’t always end well but we’re at the start, so we can enjoy it for now.
This isn’t about

This trend is bad because it’s fake deep. It’s about writing your own metaphors and the metaphors are never good. They’re obvious and self-centered and never have anything more to say than “don’t let people treat you poorly.”. We really only need one video like that. We don’t need everyone pretending to be poets to get that point across. Everyone needs to do a couple of workshops and turn the focus away from themselves. Do some creative writing exercises and then come back to TikTok. Give it a couple drafts before you put it on my FYP.
