ICYMI: I wrote about Taylor Swift last week, and the piece has done really well! People have been very nice about it, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to comment on whatever platform you did! It means a lot! If you haven’t read it yet because you’re sick of Taylor Swift takes, I promise you, mine are new and different.
Taylor Talk
On the judgment day, God will weigh each Swiftie’s heart against a feather, and if the feather is lighter, they will be cast out of heaven. Or so I assume. Everything I’ve read about Taylor Swift in the past week began with a preface about exactly what kind of Swiftie or non-Swiftie the author is. As if there is someone out there who is reading somethin…
Role Model
Readers of Memeforum have been on the role model train for a long time now. At first, I was skeptical, like all of you. I don’t really care for “Sally when the wine runs out,” and the whole Sally gimmick is a little lame, considering the song is bad, and Sally doesn’t do anything. But like me, you too will learn to worship at the church of Role Model when you begin the Some Protector journey. Some Protector is a song allegedly about Emma Chamberlin and used for countless edits. It’s LA country, but I don’t mind. Just in time for Role Model’s SNL debut, some of us are interested in developments vis-à-vis Lizzy McAlpine, who also makes music designed almost exclusively for angsty edits. But you didn’t hear it from me!
Address Me and Rabbit with Clock
I think these are the first of a kind of retro-inspired meme trend. Instead of a revival of memes from the past, these memes feel old, and the images are old, but this is the first time this cohort has adopted images like this. They are old-fashioned and evocative of an internet older than this one. It’s almost a revisionist history. Pulling memes from the past in order to hit the refresh button. We’re starting over. Or a new generation is. Can’t quite yet tell if I’m a part of it.
Dan and Phil
I swear to god, we did this already. I’m not, nor have I ever been a Dan and Phil girl, and yet those girls get to freak out every 3 or so years when all of their theories were correct that Dan and Phil were in fact dating the whole time. I don’t really understand this whole situation, mostly because they didn’t seem to do anything but vlog about their personal lives and then get mad when people speculated about the one part of their personal lives they wouldn’t talk about. Not my circus, though.
TikTok
What’s Up?/Beez in the Trap
Load-bearing meme. The exact kind of thing TikTok has been missing for the past few months. This is the trend you need to be doing with your college roommate at pre-games. It’s fun! We’re bringing back fun! I need ten more trends like this on my desk by monday. I don’t care if we valorize Nicki Minaj in the process! She’s good at what she does! Sometimes! Everyone needs to start having structured fun expeditiously.
Diane Keaton

We lost one of the greats this weekend. One of the reasons I love Diane Keaton is that she reminds me of no one I have ever met, and yet she was so familiar to me. She was one of the pillars of the screen that was always on in my household. A friendly face that felt like she might walk into our lives and lightly accost us for our flaws. She felt like someone I knew, but I didn’t know anyone like her. Not exactly. Most famous women embody an archetype of some kind that allows them to be graciously imitated in the years following their height. Nobody ever came close to Diane Keaton. Anyone who tried was doing a worse impression of someone else.
