The first question one must answer when considering a famous person's career pivot to musician is, are the songs good? All other conversation is secondary to that. Some people try to contend that there are other barriers one must overcome before the music can even be considered but those people are wrong. They are trying to distract you from the only conversation that matters because all other points can easily be argued away with a simple "when it works, it works" all rules about the arts can be argued with this point because its simply true.

Burgeoning cultural critics are trying to hone their craft with their opinions on Addison Rae. She's an easy target. She's new, she's from the world of TikTok, and most egregious, she's clearly trying. There are a lot of ways to build a case of negativity. it feels interesting to land on the critique of a pop star being inauthentic. It's not a complaint one hears often, it sounds nuanced and it seems like you can see what others can't. All the good trappings of cultural critique. Except it's boring.
