The Golden Globes remain the red headed step child of award season, especially since they made their fateful return last year. They have yet to recapture the magic they once had. People my age love to spout off on social media about award shows and what they think they need and what would make them watch it. They are all wrong. People my age have no idea what we want and people younger than me are even more wrong. Gen Z and Gen Alpha have no idea what their talking about because they’ve never experienced true glamour. That’s what award season is about.
I think my real dream job is awards show producer. Perhaps it is my narcissistic self delusion but I really believe I could do it, if they asked me tomorrow. Here are my qualifications: I’ve directed live television before and I think I know what Hollywood wants. Also, I’ve never been wrong.
The Golden Globes (as well as other award shows) keep trying to reinvent the wheel. The problem is not the celebrities themselves, because the celebrities have not changed, and they’re preforming better than ever, considering almost half of them were raised going to the Golden Globes anyway.
